The arabic word “qunoût” means “to be obedient” or “the standing prayer”. It is a du’a (supplication) that was recited regularly by the holy-Prophet [s.a.w.] at night during prayer. It has been recommended by the Hanafi school of thought, to be read during the Namâz-e-Witr (the unpair prayer).

It is a powerful du’a that can also be read out of namâz. It is based on humility, devotion and obedience to Allah ta’âlâ.
